From Huntly,

to travel by the left(west) bank to Rothiemay, it's best to cross the old bridge near the castle......
It's about 5 or 6 miles to Rothiemay.
Click to see the crossing places The Isla is nearly parallel to the Deveron for half a mile before they join, os it's easier to walk on the main road for a short distance to the bridge of Isla

And here's a song to sing as you go...."Do ye ken the way to Rothiemay?"..... it's a parody i made up, of Dionne Warwick's hit "Do you know the way to San José?

In Rothiemay there's a hotel with a pub, and a shop that has groceries and papers etc.

The pub has folk music on the evening of the FIRST AND SECOND TUESDAY OF EVERY MONTH.
